Rachael began her musical career as a chorister in Lincoln Cathedral Choir. She graduated from the Royal College of Music, London (RCM) where she studied with Tim Evans-Jones and coaches Christopher Glynn, John Blakely and Andrew Robinson. Her studies were generously supported by the Charles Richard Sisson and Yvonne Wells Award and The Kochan Trust. After having graduated with Distinction from the University of Bristol with a Postgraduate degree specialising in Musicology, Rachael went on to complete English National Opera's OperaWorks professional development programme.
In 2020, Rachael joined the English National Opera Chorus for their revival of Calixto Bieito's Carmen. As an Alvarez Young Artist with Garsington Opera, Rachael covered Zweite Dame in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. She appeared in their 2018 production of Falstaff (Sky Arts Award nominee 2018), the 2017 productions of Semele and Pelléas et Mélisande, and in 2016 Britten's Death in Venice (covering the roles Beggar Woman and German Mother), Cosí fan tutte and Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream in a collaboration with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Other operatic roles include: Rosmira (Partenope), Fidalma (Il Matrimonio segreto), Dido (Dido and Aeneas), Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Nancy (Albert Herring, Opera Scenes), Dorabella (Cosí fan tutte, Opera Scenes), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel, Opera Scenes), Varvara (Káťa Kabanová, Opera Scenes).
Also in demand as a recitalist, Rachael has worked with many ensembles and consorts. Highlights include the world premiere of a newly, re-orchestrated version of Havergal Brian’s The Vision of Cleopatra in association with The Havergal Brian Society and the University of Bristol, Handel’s Foundling Hospital Anthem with Laurence Cummings and the Little Baroque Company (London Handel Festival), Mozart’s Requiem in Chester Cathedral and St Paul's, Covent Garden and Pergolesi’sStabat Mater with the Fitzwilliam Quartet at the Ryedale Festival, Castle Howard.
